Defining The Exact Cut Lines
With all the initial layout done, you are ready to start cutting the recesses; all that remains is to make a definite knifewall for the first wall of each recess. To do so, clamp your top and bottom pieces together, making sure the ends are flush. Using your square to register against, make a very short knife nick right on the inside pencil line of both recesses. By marking both pieces together, you are ensuring the side pieces will be the exact distance apart. Repeat for the two side pieces.
