Shaping: Further Roundovers (Optional)

Although square edges have a pleasing look, you may wish to round over the three long, front edges and the sides of the top and bottom pieces. This will give you some extra practice with roundovers, which includes playing a little with your plane adjustments (and sharpening) so as to get the best possible surface, requiring minimal sanding (if any).

When rounding over these edges, begin with the ends of the top and bottom pieces, since they are cross-grain sections and you may get a bit of splitting on the outcut. This is quite common, and can be easily remedied when rounding over the front, long-grain edges.
