Laying Out The Hinges

Line up the lid onto the box and clamp securely in the vise, making sure you have equal overhang left and right. Use a pencil to mark 1 ½ ” (38mm) from each end of the box. Transfer both of these lines onto the lid. Mark the side of the line where you will cut your recess with an ‘X’.

These are only guidelines to ensure the hinges will be symmetrical and aligned with the lid. The exact cut lines will be made with a knife.
